Keeping it safe: How Meta protects advertisers and communities
Learn how Meta is creating a safe and welcoming community and collaborating with industry partners
We are committed to keeping everyone – including government, political and charity advertisers – safe from harmful content on our platforms, while also providing the tools that you need to help your organisation achieve its goals.
Creating a safe and welcoming community
While we have zero tolerance for harmful content, we recognise that doesn’t mean zero occurrence.
Guided by our Community Standards, our safety and security teams work proactively to identify and remove content that violates our policies. We continually invest in technology to detect and address harmful content – often before it is reported.
We collaborate with industry partners who are also working to make online platforms safer for you and your community alike.
- In March 2025, Trustworthy Accountability Group (TAG), a global programme in digital advertising, announced that Meta has been brand safety and fraud certified for the sixth consecutive year.
- We have introduced and continue to hold sessions with industry bodies to provide further insight into how our teams work to review content and enforce our Community Standards.
Tips for advertisers
We continue to enhance tools and resources to help advertisers maintain brand safety and connect safely with their audiences:
- Brand safety controls: Use our brand safety controls to prevent your ads from appearing alongside certain types of content. Learn more about brand safety.
- Report violating content: Our Community Standards define what is and isn’t allowed. If you encounter unwanted behaviour, you can report bullying or harassment, ignore unwanted messages anonymously or block users without notification.
We recognise our responsibility to provide a safe environment for everyone on Facebook and Instagram. By collaborating with industry experts and investing in advanced technology and tools, we strive to create a safer, higher-quality ecosystem for all users – including government, political and charitable advertisers.
