Regain access to Meta fundraising tools

Meta encourages nonprofit organizations to regularly review their fundraising tools. In some cases, nonprofits may lose access to Meta fundraising tools for reasons outlined here. This guide covers some common reasons why nonprofits based in the United States may no longer have access to fundraising tools as well as guidance on how to proceed.

Fundraising tools are available only in Australia, Canada, the United Kingdom, and the United States.

“I think my nonprofit may no longer have access to fundraising tools on Facebook and Instagram. What steps should my nonprofit take?”

If you believe your nonprofit may have lost access to fundraising tools, please follow the below steps to diagnose the issue and regain access.

1. Confirm access to fundraising tools:

Check that your nonprofit has indeed lost access to Meta fundraising tools by testing if you can add the Donate button.

2. Visit Support Inbox:

Find your Support Inbox via your nonprofit profile by switching to your nonprofit page in the upper-right corner of Facebook desktop.

  • After your nonprofit has been approved for Meta fundraising tools, you may receive requests from Facebook for updated documentation. If we reach out to you, we’ll send the request to the Support Inbox of your organization’s Facebook Page.

3. Review blocklists:

Review the Franchise Tax Board, Attorney General of California, and Internal Revenue Service blocklists to confirm that your nonprofit is in good standing. If your nonprofit is not in good standing and appears on any of these governmental agency blocklists, your organization will lose access to Meta’s fundraising tools. We are required by law to implement this process.

  • If you are on a blocklist, first, you must take action for your nonprofit to be in good standing with all three government agencies and removed from all three official blocklists. Keep in mind that once your nonprofit is back in good standing, it may take several weeks to be removed from the official blocklists.
  • After you are off the blocklists, your account will be automatically re-enabled if you have resolved the issue within 90 days from the date you first appeared on the blocklist.
  • If it has taken longer than 90 days to resolve the issue, you may request to reset your account and include evidence of good standing here. Then, re-apply to use Meta’s fundraising tools here.

4. Sign updated Charitable Donation Terms:

As of October 31, 2023, Meta partners exclusively with PayPal Giving Fund (PPGF) for our fundraising products in the US so our Charitable Donation Terms have changed. Nonprofits who did not sign updated Charitable Donation Terms by October 31 will have lost access to some fundraising tools.

  • Regain access to fundraising tools by going to Nonprofit Manager to accept the new Charitable Donation terms and switch to PPGF. Read more here.

5. Check for an existing application:

After submitting an application for fundraising tools, you may receive requests from Facebook for further or clarifying information before the application is fully reviewed. Learn more here.

  • To access the application, make sure that you are a page admin and your nonprofit page meets these Facebook page requirements.
  • If your previous application for Meta fundraising tools was rejected (see potential reasons here), your nonprofit may request to reset your account and include evidence of good standing here. Then, re-apply to use our fundraising tools here.

Note that Facebook may deny or remove access to fundraising tools for organizations that violate Facebook Community Standards, Legal Terms, Advertising Standards or Instagram Community Guidelines.
