Announcing the Boost with Facebook Good Ideas Festival
At the heart of your small business, there’s an idea. And Facebook remains committed to nurturing good ideas while giving you the support you need to grow and the community you need to feel connected. It has been over a year of unexpected changes and challenges that also brought about amazing innovation, creativity and resilience for small businesses around the world. Last summer, against the backdrop of an ongoing global pandemic, we hosted Boost with Facebook's Summer of Support where we invested in helping bring businesses of all types online. This summer, we’re helping you navigate this latest state of recovery with the Boost with Facebook Good Ideas Festival — a seven-week virtual experience that offers free training, resources and inspiration, hosted by actress, producer and small business advocate Zoe Saldana.
The Festival kicks off today in collaboration with the International Trade Center to celebrate the United Nations Micro, Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (MSME) Day with content focused on how small businesses can rebuild and recover from the economic downturn brought on by the COVID-19 pandemic.
Boost My Business
Throughout the Festival, our programming will include inspirational and educational stories, like the newest season of Boost My Business with Fashion Icon and Entrepreneur Tan France. Once again, Tan is teaming up with some of our Facebook business experts to help small businesses strengthen their marketing strategies — while having a bit of fun in the process.
One small business on Tan’s list is Sistah SciFi, a Black-owned bookstore run by Isis Asare known for featuring books written by Black and Native women. Isis needed help increasing brand awareness and growing her business online, so stay tuned for this episode of Boost My Business next month to see what Isis learned.
Found on Facebook
Our most recent Global State of Small Business Report revealed that businesses in the service and hospitality sectors were some of the highest hit in closures — at the time of the survey, nearly 1 in 4 had closed. Knowing the grit it took for the remaining 3 in 4 to stay open, we wanted the Good Ideas Festival to help put a spotlight on the incredible resilience of some of those businesses.
In a new digital show called Found on Facebook, you can tune in to meet business owners like PriaVanda, owner of a local New York City Indian restaurant called Desi Galli that stayed open during the pandemic. Desi Galli found new success by creating meal kits that ship nationwide and using Instagram Reels, to teach people how to make delicious Indian cuisine at home.
During each episode of Found on Facebook you'll hear about concrete digital marketing tips and techniques that you can apply to your own small business as we continue to navigate the road to recovery.
Digital Skills and Training
Throughout the festival, we’ve got both inspirational and educational content covered. You’ll have ongoing access to free digital skills training and interactive workshops that will help you learn creative new ways to grow your networks, sell goods online and more. And in some parts of the world, where businesses are reopening, we’re excited to help you navigate this transition in a dedicated training session about “Getting Back to Business.”
We’re also partnering with companies and policy partners like Adobe, BigCommerce, Canva, Intuit, the National Restaurant Association and others to offer skills training and thought leadership on topics ranging from how to choose a pricing strategy to design tips to content creation and more. Some of our other partners include local chambers of commerce and organizations in cities and communities across the country. We’re partnering with them to expand Boost with Facebook’s presence and offer localized education and digital skills training, interactive creative workshops, live support and networking with fellow small business owners.
Participate in the festival on our Facebook for Business and Instagram for Business feeds, or starting July 16, you can watch the inspirational and educational content on your own time and at your own pace at fb.com/goodideasfestival.
