How to Create Content That Looks and Feels Like Your Brand
As a small business owner, you’ve already put in the work creating and building a brand for your business. Now you need to figure out how to make sure the content you create looks and feels consistent when it shows up on social media. As a business owner who may be used to wearing all of the hats, social media management may not feel like it comes naturally, but with Facebook and Instagram, creating good content doesn’t have to be hard or expensive. Grab your phone, set up a DIY studio and follow the guidance below.
Tips for creating new content with a consistent look and feel:
- Consider your visual style: This could be how you can use colors, textures, props and more to complement your products.
- Use a consistent lighting technique: If you prefer bright lighting, keep using that method for each photoshoot.
- Use complementary props: For example, if you sell floral and sweet-scented candles, you might consider props like flowers and produce.
- Try different backgrounds: Explore using a variety of backdrops or surfaces that match your brand style. Experiment with simple tablecloths or poster board backgrounds.
Tips for refreshing your existing photos:
If you’ve already shot product photos but are ready to give them a refresh, try some of the tips below:
- Add your brand logo: Including your brand logo can help your photo be more recognizable and memorable. If you don't have a logo, you can create one using a free app like Canva.
- Incorporate your brand colors: Change up one of your existing photos by incorporating your brand colors. If you don’t have brand colors, consider using the colors in your logo.
- Combine more than one photo: Give new life to your photos by combining multiple photos together, or mixing your own photos with stock photos.
- Offer a fresh perspective: You can crop or adjust your photos to make them look like new.
- Change the background of your photo: If you have a photo with a plain background, changing the background can make it look completely different. Try selecting backgrounds that include colors similar to your brand colors.
